“ Quite possibly the best tacos I have ever had! My friend and I came at around 7 on a Sunday evening, and it seemed to be extremely packed. At first, we were confused on how to order, as there were multiple different lines, but once we read all the signs, it made a lot of sense. Essentially, you just get into the line corresponding to the kind of meat you want. Once you get your food, you bring it to the cashier to pay. We tried the adobada tacos, and they were absolutely delicious. The meat was grilled perfectly and was not too salty. Coupled with onions and cilantro, the taco was simple yet executed extremely well. The best part was the sauce that they used on top of the tacos--it really tied the entire dish together. I initially was confused why everyone seemed to have trayfuls of food, but after trying it, I understood. I had 6 tacos, but I definitely could've eaten 8 or 10. I look forward to trying their other menu items the next time I visit! ”
“ Tacos are good and priced about the same as other taco spots. I don't mind coming here but it's always so busy, and they don't have a drive thru. I got pastor tacos which were really flavorful and they were nicely packed with a good amount of meat. I usually judge that by how much meat fell to the plate after I'm done eating my tacos lol. I don't remember seeing a salsa bar in there but the lady at the register gave me some salsa from a fridge. Neither one was spicy but still good enough. Would definitely come back if I'm in the area! ”
“ Hands down, the best tacos in SoCal! Tacos El Gordo has always been our go-to late-night spot whenever we're in San Diego. The tacos are so simple, yet the flavors are unbeatable and the quality is consistently amazing. There's almost always a long line, but it moves fairly quickly and it's definitely worth it. When you enter, it is a bit chaotic at first--each meat has its own line, but once you're at the station you want, the process is quick. Regardless, these tacos do not disappoint and I would highly recommend this spot for anyone in San Diego! ”
“ I'd only heard about these tacos and how delicious they are. Well, no amount of world of mouth can do it justice. The place is spacious, busy and smells of amazingness!! You order from the window and then you walk to the register to pay, almost like a cafeteria at a school. Nevertheless the tacos are flavorful, generously portioned and the price is right! Loved their al pastor & crane asada. ”
“ Bomb. I am glad I gave this place another chance after 24 years. When they first opened on Hst I recall the meat being dry and I didn't understand why people liked this company all these years. Well I gave it another chance since they moved locations and WOW. I mean..... my mouth is watering thinking about having lunch here again. The Al Pastor-delicious. Imma tell everyone visiting SD this is a must. I know they have locations elsewhere such as Las Vegas but this is a must try. You will become a regular. Tip: you order, get your food, then head to the register. ”
